HAPPY FUNKY FALL!!!

Hope you guys are havin a great groovey Fall!! When you come to the Funky Farmhouse our scarie Scare Crow will welcome you with open arms. And an alter of Maple leaves pumpkins n gourds and lights lead you to our home!!

We don't have a light on our porch and we have no street lights. So I asked Sim to make me a porch light as I was havin the church ladies over for a meeting and some groovey Fall treats. This is what he came up with!! That is our scare crow from our garden this summer. We call him Otis T. Hicks. A branch of our Maple tree  some rusty funky junk and BOOM it's an awesome welcome!!! It's even cooler with the lights on. The only cost was the 50 cent pumpkins and gourds I bought adding up to $3.00. The leaves are leaving the trees around here but it sure has been pretty. Thanks for stopping by.

Keep on Keepin on
XOXO Love ya Fran.

My weekend at the Alpaca Farm!!

Oh My Gosh!!! What an awesome weekend we had!! Sim was asked to be in an art and fiber show in Oxford, MI. He was set up right by one of the Alpaca pastures. They are so fun and sweet. I learned a lot about their fur and fibers.

They were such fun to take pics of!!

This is the shop they have right on their property and it is open on the weekends with a lot of cool hand knitted items from the alpaca fur and things on consignment they others make.

This one of my favorite things hanging from their trees. Along with feeding the birds they had suet cake holders with the alpaca fur in it for the birds to make nests!! I learned about first and second cuts. I bought some second cuts to play around with and oh yeah baby I am gonna be putting some in my suet cake holders!!

link to Sim's facebook page!! XOXO

This is a shot of Sim's display. He makes the coolest bird houses. He up cycles a lot into them. Some are even made by old rotary phones. It was a blast to watch the little kids lookin at them and trying to figure them out!! LOL
The winds were quite high on Sat. and I had brought my sewing with me. My cloth I was using blew right into the Alpaca pasture!! LOL

I crawled in to it and got it!! The Alpacas didn't even care. LOL

This is what I have been sewing and making with the cloth. I am making eggs! They are turning out even better than I thought they would. And baby are they a lot of fun to make!! I made them about the same size as regular farm eggs.

Also just wanted to let you know that "Wren in the Willow" sold with in 2 days of me adding her to the shoppe!! She gone to New Jersey!! Thanks so much Diane!! My surgery went good. I am glad it is over til the next time. I got some sewing to do!!
Keep on Keepin on!!
XOXO Love ya
Fran.

Alot happening here around the Funky Farmhouse!!

This sweet Mama

gave us Madeline Grace on July 7th!!

Proud Daddy Nick holding her!! Already Madeline has made this family so blessed and happy! She's so sweet!! The new family will be coming home today!! This Grannie is so excited!!

Some other things that have been going on around here!!

I have been gardening around here in my new/old boots!! And my lettuce is coming in and I have already made two Taco salads from it!! Boy is good!! I have also been working on the front of the house. I am digging up a lot of it and it is taking me a long time!! LOL And now it's been raining!!

Here is a Funky Farm gathering I have been working on. I finally got it done!! I love how it turned out!! Anyone wanna buy some berries? in a vintage cheese box with a little friend in it? LOL This will be goin to the shoppe.

And you all know my love for GOATS!! This lil sweetie was so much fun to make!! I got the material at an estate sale and it actually is some shirts someone was making and didn't finish. I love using polyester from days gone by. I added some patriotic pins to "Uncle Sam" on his ear kinda like the tags they use on the goats at the Fairs. This is my own design I made from my pics I have of the goats from the County fair. Alittle funky for sure!!!

I can't believe how fast the summer is going!! Kaitlin has been here for 2 weeks and is leaving at the end of the week!! I am sure gonna miss her!! I will be kickin out some more gigs. I need to sew to help keep my mind busy!! LOL

Have a groovey day!!
XOXO
Love ya Fran.

Hello and come on in!!

Well I decided I would start at the door and just start cleaning and re-arranging things!!

All winter I kept thinking I want to bring that wash tub in and put it in the hallway. It was on my porch. And now I am so glad I did!! I LOVE IT!!

This is above the wash tub. It is an old window frame we found on the burn pile of an old house that was empty.

When you walk in the door right by it I put a wooden prim chair, and on it I put my very cool doll I got for $2.00 at an estate sale last summer!! She has a vintage baby dress and shoes and socks on!! And then this lady just gave me the vintage horse 1940's toy softie cuz I loved it and it came from her Grandpa's farm. Some of my quilts in a basket next to it. One is a family quilt.

I have a small collection of blue ball jars. These are my four biggest ones. They are under the chair in a rusty canning basket.

The other area from the wash tub just a gathering of some of my favorite thrifting and family things. I have about three old clothes pin bags hanging up too. I am moving my way into the kitchen and dining room and then the living room!!

We are getting a lot done here around the funky farm. As of last week Sim and Nick fixed our roof that was leaking!! And fixed the problem that we have had for years!! Now they are trading work with each other to fix stuff!! It's so cute and great!! Nick can paint and fix our ceilings and Sim can help dig the post holes for the fence!!
And right in the middle of it on Monday five days before the baby shower I have to have my out patient surgery for my bladder medicine!! LOL That's how things go for me!! So I am getting a butt kicking!! LOL But I love the pressure of having to get all the house done by Sunday!! And then next week I can do the fun stuff for the shower!! I am so excited!!

I hope you are enjoying the Spring!!
Keep on Keepin on!!
XOXO Love Fran.

Can you guess what it is?

Yep IT's A GIRL!!
And we are all so excited!! Her name is gonna be Madeline Grace and she will be called Maddie!! She is due on July 1st 2014. All of the grandparents(there are a lot of us!!) found out at the same time via text!! I was driving down the highway and when I read it I started to text back cuz I was so excited and then remembered no texting while driving!! LOL

This a special mouse I made. I made it for a super fan of thebagglady76. She was so loving and always routing for me!! She got very sick on Super Bowl day and never recovered. Just fine one day and the next not!! She is from my extended family but an awesome lady. I named the mouse "Kylie" using her initials in the name. I am going to be passing this on to my cuzin. But I already have another one cut out and ready to go. After I looked at it I could see it kinda has that sweet baby look to it!! I am in baby mode I guess!!

On Valentine's Day Sim and I went to the For-Mar Nature Preserve. They had a Valentine's Night for Couples and it was all FREE. It was so well thought out and fun!! We lined danced went for a Winter Nights walk and as you can see here it was so cold! But yet so beautiful!! Walking through the woods was so beautiful. We watched for Night Owls and actually heard one!! We had hot chocolate at one of the stops and a fire to warm up by. Then we went in and we played "The Dating Game" well Sim and I were picked as couple#2 and Guess What we won!! Kaitlin said she had no doubt we did which made me feel good. She said you guys know each other so good!! LOL I am so glad she sees it!! We also went out for dinner before we got there at McDonald's and used a coupon!! These are the kinda dates I really dig!!

Besides the mouse I have been working on this special order. This is a make-do pig I made on a rusty hoe head. I love making these. This is the second one I've made. This "PIGG FARM" is going to PA. I hope it brings Spring with it for Jennifer!! I am just working on more gigs to keep myself busy. LOL And maybe out of trouble too!!
Keep on Keepin on!!
XOXO Love ya Fran.

A new Farm Animal and "NESTING"!!

Meet "ROXIE LOU HICKS". Oh how I am digging making these little beauties!! This one is named after my grand baby sorta the Roxie comes from her middle name Roxanne and the Lou is from my Kaitlin's middle name which is Louisa. They will all be from the Hicks family!! LOL I decided not to grunge this one up as the blue was so pretty. But I think I still like the grunge better. Right now I am working on finishing up one of my Prim DOG dolls as I can't wait to use that cute material on it!!

I have also been "NESTING"!! I made these pretty nest spoons for my Esty Shoppe. I have been watching the birds return slowly and I found some Downing Woodpecker feathers and added them to the nest. I love their feathers sometimes they look like polka dots on them. Oh how I love nature!! I have been takin little tiny walks outside. I had a cold for about a week it was driving me so darn crazy!! But it is gone now but I am still havin a flare up with my bladder disease. I am praying and praying as what the direction God has for me. I don't want to have a pity party as no one comes to them. AND I LOVE PARTIES!! Just not ones where no comes!! So I am kickin my own butt and trying to listen to HIM!! Hmmm.. as I just typed this the sun perked up!! I did a craft show this weekend and I have come to the realization that I am probably not gonna be able to do them much longer. I am praying for direction as I love to be with people and I love to create and sell what I make.
Thanks for listening. I have been praying all morning and watching the birds. I know God has a plan.
XOXO Luv ya all to the moon n back!!
Fran.

Can ya dig it!!!

We were out to eat last night for Kaitlin's birthday and Sim and Kaitlin both tell me it might freeze overnight! So when I got home I jetted outside before it got dark and picked tomatoes!! I canned some today and will finish tomorrow. I had fun and it was such a Fall thing. I even made chili. It was yummo!

The shelf where the two jars of tomatoes are siting is my hallway that Sim is remodeling for me! It is made from barn wood and the furnace is behind it. I have never had a pantry before and he is making the closet into one for me!! I am so excited and can't wait for it to be done. He will be painting it too. It is a color called Cork board, it is going from green to a brown. These are some old signs and license plates he put on there! Love me some rust!! LOL

Meet "NutMeg" my newest Pigg Doll!! She is very grubby and smells yummy! I put nutmeg in her special coffee/spice mixture. I love everything about her. I am making more pumpkins and another Pigg Doll can't wait to get her done.

Yesterday was My Baby Girl Kaitlin's birthday. She is 22 now. She just got her license as a GISD special needs bus driver. So my cuzin who is a Wilton teacher at JoAnnn Fabrics made her this awesome Bus Cake. She even put her bus #86 on it. Ok as you can see the bus looks like it is slipping off. I was the one that transported the cake home. It got hot in my car and when I picked up the box it was in it slid into the box. It even looked like it had a flat tire! Don't laugh at me cuz things like that always happen to me!! BUT Kaitlin loved it anyways! She took it with her over to her Dads for her b-day dinner, cuz Kaitlin and her Dad are both bus drivers for GISD. The only father/daughter bus drivers for GISD!!

Well that's pretty much what I have been up to. Keepin busy and creating!!
XOXO Love ya, Fran.

A hidden beauty and meet "Lu Lu"!!

We have a town not to far from us called Frankenmuth. Some of you may know it. It is made to be like a German town. It is one of the cleanest towns and full of beauty and good chicken dinners. We went there last night with my Mother in Law for Sim's birthday. It was on the 15th but she hadn't gotten with us yet. So Sim picked Frankenmuth to go to. We had the family style chicken dinner. Oh my goodness alot of food but oh so good. This is a pic of the herb garden I love there. I have been to Frankenmuth quite a few times so far this summer. It's only 15 minutes from here.

I thought this clock was kinda cool.

They also have these carriage rides you can take. They are kinda expensive but very cool to ride in and hear the history of the town.

This pic is kinda blurry but the shrub is made in to a chicken!! Cuz they're famous for the chicken dinners!! It is really cool and there are so many beautiful flowers. This is just a few. I never get tired of going there. In the winter they have beautiful ice sculptures. This town always has something going on. They are also known for their beers. German of course and many more!! LOL There are alot of gift shops too. And always lot's of tourists!! From near and far!!

 Meet "LU LU"!!

"LU LU" is my newest addition to thebagglady76 etsy shoppe!! My first one sold already!! "LU LU" is so cute. I added jewels to her. I love her bracelet and upcycled lady bug on her nose!! You can check out my etsy shoppe on my sidebar. I have been in a cleaning and creating mood lately!! LOL I hope it lasts!! The heat was so bad I didn't feel like doing much! But now that I've got my mojo back I am rockin n rollin!! But I did hear we are in for more heat this week!! Bummer!! LOL  Talk to ya later!! XOXO Love, Fran.

Meet "ABBY KATZ"!!!

ABBY KATZ is my newest Raggedy Fran. Doll!! She is for sale in my Etsy Shoppe(located on my sidebar). I hand sewed all of her and she is my own design. She carries a little hippie bagg with her Sweet Annie she gathered from the farm. Abby loves hanging out in the barn. Her dress is my own design too. It is upcycled from a cool polyester I thrifted. She is wearing one of my grubby tags with her name on it. I added a fish pin to hold her bagg on. She is a very well behaved cat!! Don't ya just love her whiskers? And she has alittle bell on her collar so you can find her!!

But I bet this is where you can find ABBY KATZ hanging out most day! Gathering her Swet Annie and looking for mice!!

Hope you guys are doing good. We are under a heat advisory and I am praying for the safety of everyone! We also had a storm in our county and over 27,000 people are still without power. We are blesed we are not one of them. I am watering my garden everyday and praying for rain. We do not have air conditioning. But are staying cool anyway we can. I've been sewing to keep my mind busy. It's to hot to cook or even clean. I know one thing for sure the house will wait for me!! LOL I pray all of my blogging BFF's are staying cool and healthy. Just wanted to check in with ya's!!
XOXO Love, Fran.
