Well I joined the Pixie Chicks Club!!

 

 

After a very long last few months this winter. I needed something new!! So I got new nerdy glasses (which btw help me so much hand sewing. They are full of close up help!!) Then I decided it was time to grow up and get my hair cut. I love both of them!! What do you think?

A couple of weeks ago Sim took me for a surprise ride into THE THUMB OF MICHIGAN. We went and checked out where we are gonna stay on our June vacation. Oh my goodness it was so much fun!! We found this barn I do not know what the words mean. But the art on this barn is just amazing!!

 

We are gonna have some good weather this week and I can not wait. I wanna open up my windows and air the house so bad!! I need to get all the winter yucky out of here!!

Kicked Out Some New Funky Gigs!!!

 

KIN FOLK

 

I made these cute lil  Kin Folk dolls for someone special and I really am very happy with how they turned out. They have lil chickens on the dress and a bird and nest on the Mama and a sweet bow on the lil kin. I sure love makin these. Each one always turns out so different in their own way.

CROW COFFEE COVER

I kicked out another CROW COFFEE COVER. I SOLD out of these at the show I was in actually the 2 shows I was in at Christmas time. I believe they are much better lookin in person.  I also realized that not only do these cover coffee mugs, and to go coffee cups, they fit a quart mason jar perfect. If you keep your coffee in a jar this would be so cool.

 

Been also kickin out kidney stones again so a lot of down time for sewing!! I tell ya I am so looking forward to  spring n summer time!! I like sewing but not like this!! lol Gonna be listing the coffee cover soon in my shoppe.

Nesting!!

Ok I have been kinda feeling like my new CROW DOLL "Wren in the Willow"!! She's sittin on my old vintage swing just coppin a lean. I have been workin and nesting around here at the Funky Farm House. I started with the outside and now I have been nesting in the diningroom/kitchen area and onto the livingroom. I also felt like I needed a blog update. I added a new pic to the top and I really like it a lot better.

 

 

 

Actually "WILLOW" is a pretty cool CROW. I designed her and put a lot of handsewing into her. She has a bird on her head with a nest. The bird and her arms are made from an old dresser scraf with hand emboirdery that I grubbied up real good it had seen better days!! I used some of my favorite black polyester and red and white polka dotted poly material also.

 

I  made one of my funky flowers from the calico and dresser scraf into a brooch and sewed a safety pin on the back so you can wear it if you want to.

 

 

I also made her a Pin Apron and stitched her name "WILLOW" onto it.

I learned about pin aprons from the Civil War re-enactments I have been to. I have used them before and they are so sweet.

 I have been creating a lot in between my nesting!! Clean sew clean sew!! Wheww!! LOL it has been so humid here it gets kinda uncomfortable sometimes lot's of showers!!

 

 

And I got to take some time off from nesting and watched Madeline Grace the other day!! WOO HOO this Grannie Frannie was a happy one!! Oh my goodness she is so adorable!! We had fun just me n her! I even sewed while she was sleeping! I read out of the Readers Digest to her about being happy and feeling rich without having to have money!! She's a good listener!!

 

And this pretty little mommy-to-be had the cutest shower ever!! DR SUESS one of my favorite books!! I still have all my books from when I was little. Shannon is such a pretty girl and I use to babysit her when she was growing up!! Her and Kaitlin were one year apart. Shannon lived right next door. But now she lives up in town. I love her so much!! She's havin a boy and the shower was such a hoot!! I felt like a kid again myself!! LOL

 I had fun using my stuff for props!! I probably sound like I have been doing a lot and I have but believe me it has taken me a long time doing it! LOL

 

I LOVE nesting and creating and feel blessed to be able to do both!! I am working on Pumpkins it takes me awhile cuz I hand sew everything but that is what I LOVE to do!! I am trying to get everything done by the 15th as I am having my surgery again then and need my medicine pretty bad. But one thing after the surgery I get to sew for awhile!! as I rest!! Woo Hoo!!

Some new kidds here at the Funky farmhouse!! A special order that sweet Sue let me go free style on the colors!! I LOVE the way they turned out!! I have one more sheep special order I am working on. And then it's a new CROW doll I have been whipping up!! And also getting the farmhouse ready for that very special shower for new grand girl!! Busy Busy!!

Can you guess what it is?

 

Yep IT's A GIRL!!

And we are all so excited!! Her name is gonna be Madeline Grace and she will be called Maddie!! She is due on July 1st 2014. All of the grandparents(there are a lot of us!!) found out at the same time via text!! I was driving down the highway and when I read it I started to text back cuz I was so excited and then remembered no texting while driving!! LOL

 

This a special mouse I made. I made it for a super fan of thebagglady76. She was so loving and always routing for me!! She got very sick on Super Bowl day and never recovered. Just fine one day and the next not!! She is from my extended family but an awesome lady. I named the mouse "Kylie" using her initials in the name. I am going to be passing this on to my cuzin. But I already have another one cut out and ready to go. After I looked at it I could see it kinda has that sweet baby look to it!! I am in baby mode I guess!!

 

 

On Valentine's Day Sim and I went to the For-Mar Nature Preserve. They had a Valentine's Night for Couples and it was all FREE. It was so well thought out and fun!! We lined danced went for a Winter Nights walk and as you can see here it was so cold! But yet so beautiful!! Walking through the woods was so beautiful. We watched for Night Owls and actually heard one!! We had hot chocolate at one of the stops and a fire to warm up by. Then we went in and we played "The Dating Game" well Sim and I were picked as couple#2 and Guess What we won!! Kaitlin said she had no doubt we did which made me feel good. She said you guys know each other so good!! LOL I am so glad she sees it!! We also went out for dinner before we got there at McDonald's and used a coupon!! These are the kinda dates I really dig!!

 

 

Besides the mouse I have been working on this special order. This is a make-do pig I made on a rusty hoe head. I love making these. This is the second one I've made. This "PIGG FARM" is going to PA. I hope it brings Spring with it for Jennifer!! I am just working on more gigs to keep myself busy. LOL And maybe out of trouble too!!

Catchin up at THE FUNKY FARMHOUSE!!

Come on in and have a cuppa coffee with me and catch up!!! I have been havin a lot of coffee lately. Just trying to stay warm!! LOL My regular in the morning and then in the afternoon for a treat Sim and I have been cleanin out the hot chocolate from the cupboard and adding it to the coffee. My fav was the cocoa with the cherry in it!! And I had some whipped cream in the fridge. Oh my goodness!! Winter loveliness in a cup!!!

 

And no kiddin once a week I have been makin chili!! Brooke asked me why I have been makin chili so much (she hates tomatoes and doesn't eat it)!! LOL I told her it is keepin me n Sim healthy!! It's warm n good!! Got anther batch in the fridge right now for tomorrow nights dinner!!

 

 

Isn't this the cutest pig? I got it from my Secret Sister at church for Valentine's Day!! Oh my gosh I just Love it!!! It's a piggy bank!!!

 

Sim and I went to the Tractor Supply Store the other day for suet cakes for our birds. When we saw these suet cake holders we just had to have them!! They are so perfect for our porch!! The one is a tractor and as you can see the other one is a Rooster. I just love them!! And look the sun was shining today!!

And I can't believe I forgot to show my new vintage Farm table!! I got this back around the time Kaitlin left for Connecticut. Right now I am using wooden folding chairs at it til we get a new (old) one for Sim. He is gonna paint the legs a different color later on. I was so excited as most of my vintage tablecloths I have fit it!! I love changing them around.

 

 



 

This is my chair we got on the yard sale trial back in August. I am just waiting til Sim finds his and we get all the stuff together. We have to get our roof fixed before we can re-do the kitchen dining room. Til then I am just gonna use the wooden ones. I want to keep my chair yellow. I am still workin on the living room but hope to share soon!! I finally got new rugs for the living room.

 

And I also can't believe I forgot to share my Squirrel I made with you guys!! This one is for me!! I am keepin her!! I just LOVE how she turned out!! I don't make to many things for myself. But this is a keeper. And I LOVE the squirrels as you know!! LOL

Another "Farm Chick" pin cushion from a cutter quilt heart shaped piece. I put a muslin piece on the back. On it's way to the shoppe.

 

Well that is alittle bit of what I have been up to!! Keepin busy and then sometimes just layin low to keep warm. I sure have been watchin a lot of cable re runs. But I love it. Sim got the flu last week and he has only called into work 2 times since we got married in the last 14 years. One was last week. SO I knew he was very sick. As soon as he got sick I went and slept in the living room. It was a good call as I didn't get it. My immune system isn't to good. LOL

 

And last time Danielle and Nick went to the doc they couldn't find out what the baby was. But they have an appt tomorrow and we are hopin to find out!! The baby is healthy though so far and that is the important thing!! And Nick got the job he interviewed for at Menard's. Things are goin good!!

Hangin out on the East Coast!!

This is where I started right pass the Canada border!! We stayed in Rochester New York the first night. I really like New York and the pretty mountains. The Fall colors were everywhere. I got a coffee cup with this on it!!!

 My most favorite little trip we took was to Mystic Connecticut. I was suppose to see the ocean. But I didn't. Darn it. But I did see the Mystic River in this cool town. Julia Roberts made the movie "Mystic Pizza" here in this little fishing town. We ate at the very place where the movie took place. We got the house speciality pizza minus mushrooms for me!! LOL I hate them bad!! 

It is so cool they play the movie over and over throughout the day. There was a photographer there and he took pics of this couple eating their pizzas they got. It is still very popular after all these years. I got a coffee cup!! LOL

 My next favorite place was "The Cheesecake factory"!!! This was a special lunch for me n Kaitlin. She wanted to take me out to lunch there. As I love cheesecake and The Big Bang Theory!! Oh my gosh this place looks nothing like the one on the Big Bang!!

 Isn't this the coolest column? They are huge and so pretty!! And all through  the restaurant. This one is in Hartford Connecticut where Kaitlin goes to college at The University of Connecticut for her Masters.

 This is the awesome burger I got!! Let me say I could only eat half of it!!

 And this was my piece of Cheesecake I got!! Reese's Pieces Peanut Butter!! OMG it was to die for!! Half of it went home with me!!

 And this one here was my Sister in laws!! S'mores chocolate Cheesecake!! They melted the marsh mellow over it before they brought it out!! She had to take part of it home with her too!!! Seems like they might have even been better the second time around!! LOL

And of course this was one of my very favorite things was to be with my baby girl!!! We had a great lunch and day. We did get to do some shopping. Not much I need things were pretty high priced.

I also wanted to share with you my new line I have started in my etsy shoppe!! It is my "FUNKY FARMHOUSE" section to go with my new Funky Farmhouse I am re-doing around here!! I am just making up alot of cute little things to help you make your farm house look alittle funky too!! And it is alot of fun and I have alot of thoughts and ideals running through my head. Got a few more things that just need a little tweaking and then they will be added to the shoppe!!

WELCOME TO THE FUNKY FARM!!!!!

You know what is so cool? I have been trying to go alittle bit funky farmhouse around here lately and I remembered we had these cool seed sacks out in the barn and I also remembered that Sim had bought one that had a F on it!! After I hung this up as a curtain I realized that it said FUNK FARMS on it!! Rock on dude!! I was doing a happy happy happy dance!! Sim doesn't like it cuz it doesn't cover the whole window. But I kinda do. The crows help out alittle on the side but they are from my Fall decorations. When Sim gets done painting in this hallway I am sure it will change. But for now it makes me happy!! Doesn't take much!! LOL I had everything here that you see.

While I was resting on the couch last week from my surgery I tweaked my Etsy Shoppe. I had also been wanting to add a funky farmhouse section to it. I look at my creations and realize they are a bit funky!! It seems like when I make things they always have that same look to them. So I added that section and here is one of my funky farm girls for the Fall. I have quite a few things to add to my etsy shoppe. Just gettin around to taking pictures of them. Boy it took me a minute to start feeling better this time. My pain level was quite bad. I did do some sewing and now I just need to grubby them up!! 

I have been in the Fall mood myself just like everyone. I can see that the trees are starting to change some. Kids are back in school. That always gets me in the fall mood. My baby girl Kaitlin started at UCONN last week. Her classes are kinda hard. But she will get it. She loves her intern job at the school. 

Here are a couple of my new pin cushions for the Funky Farmhouse section of my etsy shoppe. The blue one is upcycled from an old cutter quilt piece and I made one of my lil chicks to go on the handle of the little silver dish. It has a spool of thread and a little silver thimble on the other handle. It has a tag that says "Farm chick" on it. It turned out so cute. The other one is a tomatoe pin cushion in an upcycled tomatoe canning funnel with a grubby tag that says "homemade" on it. I just love making these kinda things. I am trying to sell as much as I can cuz I am going to see Kaitlin on the 22nd of this month!! My SIL and MIL are going and asked me to go!! WOO HOO!! Connecticut here I come!!

And wouldn't ya know it our garden produced alot of tomatoes and are ready to be canned!! Oh if only I had all the energy that goes with this!! LOL I will do it alittle at a time. We have been having tomatoes anyway we can think of!! Tomorrow night we are having bacon, lettuce, and tomatoe sandwiches!! Yesterday I made a big batch of chili!! My stepson Nick and his fiance Danielle heard I made chili and invited them selves over for dinner!! It was kinda cute. I made grilled cheese sandwiches to go with it. A great Fall dinner and we even ate outside on the picnic table.

I am doing pretty good and keeping busy. I am trying to take things one day at a time so I don't get over whelmed. Been staying on my diet and I have now lost a total of 5 lbs. Laughing at myself as I am typing this cuz I just decided to eat a couple of cookies!! Which means tomorrow I will start all over and try not to beat myself for it!! I know I am not weighing myself tomorrow!! LOL
