Been Makin THUMBPRINTS in The Thumb of Michigan again!! We had our first vacation up in Port Austin, Michigan. Home of the beautiful sunsets!!

 

This is Beautiful Lake Huron!!!

 

 

AND I can take Zip Lining off my bucket list!! All I could do was hop across!! I couldn't even lift my other foot up!! Sad very sad!!

 







AND this happened while I was gone!! My awesome beautiful lilies bloomed!!! BUT we had to make a quick day trip home and I got to see it and take pics!! AND also I got a new to me van!! In my favorite color orange of course!! I miss my little orange car I had but it was time. This one works out great with our little grannie girl and my son when I pick him up. Also great for vacation the seats go right down in the floor.

 

I had a customer that wanted me to change the dress on this sweet bunny I had in my Etsy Shoppe. It turned out just great!! I have also been working on orders n gardening outside. I just wanted to stop in n say hi!!

WOW where is our summer going?

 

Well at least I got some smore's in!! LOL we went on another trip to The Thumb of Michigan. We stayed in a rustic cabin and had a fire. I thought my goodies just looked so cute.

 

 

We went to Port Sanilac to see a Civil War Re-enactment. It was a lot of fun and very interesting. I love the way they just camp right at the Museum and live just like they did at that time. Even cooking and eating right in make shift tents.

 

 

 

There was also a Vintage Trailer show. This trailer here is from a little town about 6 miles from where I live!! It was so cool they are fixing it up and re painting it. People just let us walk right through the trailers!!

 

 



I was pretending to do the dishes here!! This was the sweetest lil vintage kitchen set up. I loved the colors. This is the same colors I have in my kitchen.

 

 

Made to look just like home!! One of my favorite things was the outside of this one set up like a deck/yard with all vintage items and board games, vintage picnic stuff and vintage camping stuff. etc. They had old bikes they rode around on too. Just too cool!!

 

One of my favorite things too was riding into the small towns and looking for rusty stuff. The nature is just so pretty and the deer are so funny watching what you do sometimes. There are a couple of deer in the trees but you can't see them very good but boy can they see us!! LOL

 

This is what I was looking for. I found these little tiny rusty plugs. They are about 1/2" across and about an inch high. I made some of my "lil chicks" and put them onto it with a bit of moss. These are so sweet. I will be adding them to my Etsy Shoppe.

 

 

Last Saturday our town had our "Back to The Bricks' classic car show. This was my set up in our parking lot at church for "the Junk in the Trunk" sale. It was hot but our town was full of cars, and lot's of people!! Sim sold 10 of his cool barn wood Birdhouses over at he Farmers Market Open Air Market!! It was so fun we were a block away from each other. But every once in awhile he'd walk over to see me for a quick second!! LOL Nick Danielle and our sweet Madeline showed up at the gig in town!! It was fun to show her off!! Sorry no pics I was just enjoying having her there!! They came and surprised us!!

 

Hey a red tomato showed up in my "JUNQUE GARDEN". Just can't seem to get rid of those darn tomato worms!! This one came from "Farmer Joe's" garden!!



 

Next week starts our Genesee County Fair!! You bet I am excited! Going to be hanging out with my BFF's the GOATS!! Lot's of fun things will be happening!! Sim is gonna be on vacation and we are having a yard sale next week too so been trying to go through things!! Ha that's always fun!!

I've been Travelin around the Thumb of Michigan!!!

We started out spending the weekend at a Civil War Days in Port Sanilac, Michigan!! This was a cute little area where a family was spending time just like they would in that time period.

 These little cuties belonged to the little girls. They were so cute and just little babies!!

Sim was feeding Lu Lu through a hole in the crib barn. Too cute!!!

This was really cool how they spin the yarn. She was explaining it to us how many steps there are. They have to wash it so many times and then repeat alot of the steps. There are about 13 steps I think she said!! Now I really appreciate yarn alot more. Has anyone ever used alpaca yarn? I would like to get some and make me a scarf.

Here are some of the ways they were just living outside in tents. These people actually eat sleep and live this community. They talk like the days. It was so hot and the ladies were dressed to the nines. Which means nine layers of clothing!!

And how cool is this dude!! He actually looks like this everyday. He goes around to alot of Civil War Days around our state. I think he lives down by Detroit.  This was a debate between Lincoln and Senator Douglas. The guy on the right side. We listened to it and the words were from the actual debate Lincoln and Douglas had. The real one was 21 hours they got this one down to an hour. Very interesting.

This is the South shooting at the North! But we all know how it went!! LOL That cannon is actually from the Civil War and that boom is so loud!!

 This is Governor Douglas of Michigan and his wife. Another great person. They live down by Detroit too. They travel all over and get alot of people involved.

 This is the Grand Ball they had that night. We came back and danced on the lawn with these people. Oh my gosh Sim and I had so much fun!! We were laughing at ourselves and with the other people.

Can ya dig it!! It was so hot that day. Sim caught me resting!! LOL

So this is were I was at the beginning of the week and I will have to get pics taken of the goodies I bought at the end of the week. We always go this time of year for the Antique and Yard Sale Trail around the Thumb of Michigan. I save my money so I can get supplies for making and getting items for my Etsy Shoppe. (check it out on my sidebar) I got some great stuff. It rained the first two days of the sale but we were still out there. I felt bad for the people who sat up. Alot of hard work cuz they had to keep covering up their stuff as it rained on and off. Now it is getting the time of year I start getting ready for the Craft Shows I do. I am like everyone else so ready for Fall!! This trip always gets my mojo going for creating!! Glad to be back and I missed ya all!!

It's nice to get away, but it's good to be home too!!

This is The Raymond House Inn Bed and Breakfast in Port Sanilac, where we stayed on most of our vacation! It is an old beautiful house restored. It has nine bedrooms!! That also includes the Inn Keepers. We had the most wonderful breakfasts!! Christy is the owner along with her husband Gary. Christy and I bonded over creating!! She has a gallery in the back of the Inn. She makes the most awesome things! She is making china plate pins, earrings, and bracelets. She cuts the plates herself and puts the jewerly parts on. Every year Sim and I go to Port Sanilac, Michigan this time of year for the annual Antique and Yard Sale around the Thumb. It is almost 200 miles long! Sim and I only make it to a couple of cities. It takes all day, and it's three days long. We like to go on Friday. The first day. I was on the hunt of course for cool vintage items. Especially sewing, black and white photos, etc. I did find quite a bit. I save up dimes all year for this, and had a yard sale of my own. I also had something new to look for!! Christy showed me everything there is to know about china!! LOL So I found a few items for her too! She said as a thank you, she is going to send me a pin!! There was a plate I fell in love with!! It was gold,orange, and black!! Just my colors!! Sim has even got in on the creative bug now!! She told him he should start making and selling with me! That's what her and her hubby do!! So, he is starting to make very prim wind chimes!! He got the coolest rusty and other type things to start making them with!! I'll show a pic when he gets one done!! After the weather gets better I'll be kicking out some items too! I am so excited about the cool things I got!! My mind is creating but my laundry and house are calling me!! Shucks!
